Central Outreach & Advocacy Center

servewithbellsAssisting the Poor and Homeless
In 1997, Central opened the Outreach Center as an extension of its programs to aid Atlanta's impoverished and homeless residents. In 2002, the center expanded its mission to include advocacy—organizing efforts to develop and promote fair and compassionate public policies that address economic injustice.

Central Outreach & Advocacy Center (COAC) is maintained as an independent, non-profit agency separate from the church, and is administered by an independent board and staff. You can find out more about the center's history and current work by visiting its website.

With Many Thanks

Central OAC and the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception share a very important ministry--assistance with food.  Following is a thank you letter from Deacon Bill Payne at the Shrine to Central OAC and the congregation of Central Church expressing their gratitude:

Dear Ms. Parker,

It is a joy that the Central Presbyterian Church (CPC), the Central Outreach & Advocacy (COAC) and the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception come together in so many ways.  Our community of diverse Christians is compelled to answer God’s call as disciples, living and seeking Justice, Compassion, Advocacy and Assistance to those in need as we seek spiritual growth.

Please accept our sincere thank you for supporting our ministries here at the Shrine.  For quite some time now, we have been blessed with your outreach in donating to our needs as we have supported those who have come for food assistance.  We truly do appreciate the major Food Assistance actions that you have done:

  • COAC verifies the requirements that the clients must meet to receive food assistance
  • Requesting CPC members to donate food to be given to those in need

When we distribute the food assistance many of our clients share that they are so very happy to have received healthy foods.  So, once again, thank you so very much.  It truly is a blessing being with you all.

Your Brother in Christ,
Deacon Bill Payne
