How to Find the Central Shelter

Central Location

Central Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of MLK Jr. and Washington Street across from the Georgia State Capitol. The shelter space is located in the 4th floor gymnasium in the Campbell-Eagan building.

The entrance to the shelter is through the back entry of Central Church. This entry is a pair of double glass doors accessible via an alley on MLK Jr. Drive (across from Underground Atlanta). Once inside the building, take the elevator on the left to the 4th floor. The address for the shelter is:

Shrine Location

The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is located at the corner of MLK Jr Drive and Central Avenue. The Shrine’s shelter is in the Church Hall in the church basement. The entrance to the Shrine's Church Hall is through either of two doors off the their parking lot on Central Avenue. The address for the Shrine is:

Central Shelter Parking

There are several options for Volunteer parking:

• The alley located between Central Church and The Shrine is the most convenient location, but Volunteers may not park there overnight because doing so will block access to the dumpster.
• Street parking On MLK Drive next to both churches on the side opposite the Georgia Freight Depot.
• The Underground Atlanta Parking Deck on the corner of MLK Jr. Drive and Central Avenue, diagonally across from the Shrine. This deck is is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is an hourly charge for parking in this garage.

If you are delivering food, it is recommended that you park in the alley while delivering the food and then park in the Underground Atlanta deck or on MLK.

Regardless of where you park, you should not leave anything in your car visible from the outside that might interest someone else--put everything in the trunk, out of sight, or leave it at home.

Shrine Shelter Parking

There are several options for volunteer parking at the Shrine:

• The Shrine parking lot accessible from Central Avenue. This lot has a gate that shrine volunteers will be able to lock after all volunteers have arrived.
• The Underground Atlanta Parking Deck on the corner of MLK Jr. Drive and Central Avenue, diagonally across from the Shrine. This deck is is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is an hourly charge for parking in this garage.
