Wisdom Calling

Central Women's Retreat
February 3 - 5, 2012
Cherokee Presbytery Retreat Center

Central’s women of all ages will gather for a weekend retreat on February 3—5, 2012, at the Cherokee Presbytery Retreat Center just north of Cartersville. Theologian, Mary Stoops, will be the spiritual advisor; and potter, Edna Bacon, will provide artistic instruction.

Beginning on Friday evening with dinner at 6:00, the retreat will end with a closing worship service at 9:00 on Sunday morning.

Registration for this event continues on all the Sundays during January after worship in Tull Fellowship Hall. Fees for lodging and food will be $95 for early registration (January 8—22) and $105 for late registration (January 29). Scholarships and half-scholarships will be available.  To register online, click here.

Centered on Wisdom literature from the Old Testament, Mary says that the weekend will be “spacious, relaxed, and sharing. We won’t be working our way through an agenda.” Besides reviewing Proverbs and Solomon, participants will have an opportunity to show the photos of women in their own lives who have shared their wisdom with them. Edna will help participants create amulets or icons to represent a form of wisdom that they have experienced during the retreat.

In addition to group discussions, there will be worship, free time for games or outdoor activities such as hiking, and, of course, meals and snacks. Parker Lodge will be the place for meetings and meals, and most participants will have lodging in two cabins which feature four beds to a room. If needed, there is also sleeping space in Parker Lodge.

Those who have questions about the retreat can contact Anne Sciarrone, chair of the planning committee, or committee members Eleanor Dake, Cat Goodrich, Sharon Junn, Susan Landrum, Martha Kimes, or Debbie Miller.
